I can't see that option either, but unfortunately it's common in many communities (e.g all phpBB-boards I think) to not being able to delete one's account. Yet, I think that it is an important feature, because it feels a bit better if you know that there aren't a lot of "dead" accounts when you don't use different webpages anymore.
I just wanted to delete my account in one board where I had registered in 2004, but there was no such option :( So the account is just being unused and I hope that the administrators of the forum will clean their user table soon ^_^

I have another question - is it possible to delete my Polyglot account? Don't think I'll do it just yet, it's only a bit odd not seeing such an option anywhere.
Thanks. :]

You probably saw it on this page after login: http://www.polyglot-learn-language.com/invite.php
Your version should look like this:
'If
5 of your friends register on Polyglot you will automatically become a VIP member. If your friend clicks on the following link
http://www.polyglot-learn-language.com/formcity.php?ref=rissmiss and registers on Polyglot, YOU will be remembered as having provided one new member to Polyglot. You need 5 registrations to become a VIP member.'
So you just have to pass that link to your friends, they visit the page and register. 5times.
