Please don't leave your personal email ! Hello everybody,
Please don't leave your personal email address on this forum or you will receive hundreds of spams because robots are scanning the web to find emails to spam
The internal polyglot mailbox allows you to communicate without leaving your email.

Maybe you could add a little explanation text when hovering the button with the mouse. You know, just like the title="" attribute of the Forum-posts or if you are in the mood to program something, maybe a CSS-hover, which would be nicer in my opinion.
it might be strange if you expect an email-address, but there is a link to the profile. You might not think of writing a personal message to him, so you could just write that into the explanation. Something like "mail-address removed, please write a personal message to the user". I don't know if it's really needed, but I just thought of it. You always have to think the DAU*-way in internet.

I've added a function to automatically replace personal email addresses with a link to your
mailboxregards,

I agree that the user has to choose, if he wants to post his / her email-address.
At least users don't have to use the Brati
I'm not sure, if this is save, but on two email-addresses of my website, which were always written in that way, I didn't get any spam messages, yet. So it seems to work ^^
Unfortunatelly on the other one, which was wrong (with @ and .) for some time, I get about 30 one day. But Thunderbird can learn to filter things really good
If I'm not wrong, people can also post pictures here. This is also a good way to protect your email-address, I think (I've never tried it before)...
I don't know, how save the comments php.net are, but they're working with a AT b DOT c there, if I'm not wrong.. Some people even add something like a AT [nospam] b DOT c
Smarty (Template Engine) has a function for emails. I never used it, but I looked in the manual, how it works. So Smarty also changes the visible address to something like php.net and then encode all signs in the mailto-link, so that they aren't readable, but the mail-programme can recognize the characters. At least I think so, otherwise the mailto: link would be useless ^^
So you see. There are many ways to protect your email-address from robots and everybody should decide, if he wants to post it. To let the user choose is something very important, which is forgotten sometimes..

I do not want to erase automatically emails from messages because I consider this is the responsability of member not to leave his/her personal email online. If he/she does not mind receiving hundreds of spam mail every day ...
best

This suggestion should be at the top of this forum in my opinion. I see many people writing their email addresses here.
