To summarize the concept I would say :
In order to practice a language you just need someone to talk to because you cannot speak alone in front of a mirror.
In other words, as a French guy wanting to practice English, I can do it with another French guy listening to me. I just need an " active ear" .
It's true that you will not pratice your accent during that type of Language Exchange but you will practice your ability to buid sentenses. As for the accent, you can still listen to English TV or radio.
