I am a Hong Kong ppl who can speak both Cantonese and Mandarin, if you would like to learn either one of the them, just send an email to me, I can teach as much as I can.

Hi!In your "pinyin pronounciation of mandarin" you are writing about the simple, basic words. I have only a question about ni hao tones. You're writing, that in ni hao are the tones like ni3hao4, but I have learned that it is like ni3(2)hao3. What do you think about it? thanks :-)

You can try to speak "394705268" by using Cantonese, then you will know there are nine tones in Cantonese system.

Hi, I take the advantage of the opportunity to ask you some clarifications about Cantonese tones! I started to learn Cantonese recently because I'm fascinated by tones, but I still haven't understood if they are 7, 8 or more! I know that there are 7 tones, 6 if we consider that the "high level" tone is often pronounced as the "high falling" tone, at least in Hong Kong Cantonese. You say there are 9 tones, which are the other 2 tones? Thanks a lot!

For sure I can teach you Cantonese, but it required much more practice, as there are nine tones for Cantonese which compared with four tones for Mandarin. Please leave me message if you wanna learn cantonese.

I think you can start to learn simple greetings like "hello" and "thank you", as this kind of useful daily phrases can let you meet more Mandarin speakers. However, before starting this lesson, you better visit this homepage for learning some "pinyin". Since I cannot "speak" to you directly http://www.ctcfl.ox.ac.uk/Pinyin.htm In this homepage, you can learn how to pronounce the "pinyin" correctly. Please be reminded that in "pinyin" system, we need to learn four different tones. Right now, let me teach you some simple greeting words first. ni3 hao4(§A¦n).......hello xie4 xie4(ÁÂÁÂ)......Thank you zai4 jian4(¦A¨£)....Goodbye duei4 bu4 ci3(¹ï¤£°_)....Sorry shih4(¬O)....Yes bu4 shih4(¤£¬O)....No P.S. N. + V. + Obj -got it. unfortunetly up until now i havent had the time to learn another language outside of school, ive always wanted to learn both chinese and japanese. As of yet i cant read chinese but i hope that with your help that will gradually be able to change.

Actually, Chinese sentense struction is similiar to English. N. + V. + Obj. It doesn't like Japanese N. + Obj. + V. So when you learn these two lang at the same time. Please dont make this kind of mistake. As you know, you can find chinese characters in japanese, it will make you confuse.
