Forum Language Subject Yiddish - Summer Program in Yiddish

I’m delighted to be able to report to all of Mendele and all the planet that Professor Dov-Ber Kerler, one of the world’s top Yiddish scholars, writers and educators, will be teaching the two advanced levels (Yiddish III and IV) at this summer’s Vilnius Summer Program in Yiddish Language and Literature, to be held on the old campus of Vilnius University in Lithuania, from 27 July to 27 August. The Vilnius Summer course continues the Oxford Program in Yiddish, which was founded in 1982 by Prof. Dovid Katz, who is now director of research at the Vilnius Yiddish Institute. The summer course was relocated to Vilnius in 1998 and celebrates its tenth anniversary in Vilnius, featuring top educators, performers and intellectuals, as well as irreplaceable interaction with local Yiddish speakers who have spent their lives here in “the old country.” Although at this stage there is a limited space for new applications, please visit www.judaicvilnius.com to check out our summer course, and please write to me if you have any questions.
