Being French , I appreciate the fact that a lot of you like my native language. Most French people would tell you that the most beautiful language is Italian. It is a beautiful language, but I think Vietnamese is very musical with its five tones. So is Mandarin. I also like Bahasa Indonesia and Bahasa Malaysia which are quite easy to learn.

French for love, English for a song, German for a work. Each of languages is pleasant to the ear, but there're very funny languages, one of that is the Ukrainian language    :+))

HiHo I totally agree with those of you, noticing that it depends on the nativ language if you like a language or not. I never would say that I "hate" a language without knowing sth. about it or maybe learning it. unfortunately I never heard german as non-nativ speaker. would be funny :-) I've learned English, Latin, French and Spanish in school and did a little Italian myself. So I will only refer to that. English: At first I really didn't want to learn it. But now I like it. But im not very motivated because I always think: ok man, everybody knows it..boring. :-) Latin: I thought it was not very useful at school. But since I've finished school I don't wanna miss it. French: I love French. Not just because it's the language I need most. In vacation and in letters. And I'm always proud to understand French more or less good (for a german guy). Because there are many germans (even if they learned for 5 years) who can't say a word! Spanish: Actually I wanted to leard Italian. But my school didn't offer it. So I took Spanish and liked it, because I knew the very similar grammar from French. I only don't like the lisp-sounds (grrratthhhiaßßß) in some dialects. Italian: I like these constructions where the pronoun gets at the end of the verb (like in spanish too).ie. preguntandola. really cool. although great: la mia sorella. i call it double construction. because normaly i would say: mi sorella. but beside that i'm not very familiar with Italian. btw: there are many dialects in all languages. i would say that a guy from north germany (whos german nearly sounds like a mix of dutch and english) could never understand an bavarian. very difficult to understand is switzerland-german (schwiizer-dütsch). I can tell you, that I understand nearly nothing if 2 swiss-guys talk with each other. :-) so please just judge the high-german. I personally can't chum up with slavic languages. esp. polish is really hard to pronounce for germans :-) but i really don't hate it. arabic is the same. at the end I have to say, that every language has some interesting aspects, esp. when you begin to study it, you will love it... curious on your responses live long and prosper :-)

Perhaps I love to hear Spanish, not so much because it is a beautiful language (although it is), but because of who is speaking it to me ;-)

I think Norwegian is very beautiful, like my mother language, French. Dutch is horrible and german too I think.

French is the most poetic Language, and the best to listen to. Welsh is like the German Language's ugly cousin. If you can't stand German, your head will explode when you hear a thick Welsh accent.

I belive that French is a very poetic language, sign language has a very nice rythem to it as well, the only language i dislike really would be a language that is very high pitched...

Español/Spanish, so phonetic and sounding, specially with the Castillian/Spanish (I mean from Spain) accent. Hungarian sounds lovely too.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Brazilian Portuguese... it's so loopy and active sounding (and even seductive when it wants to be)

I love Italian and Russian because there are very musical languages. I like Czech very much- it's funny and similar to Polish:) I think that all languages are beautiful, especially when we can speak them. But unfortunable it's not simply,pa,pa

I quite like all languages, some better than other. There is one thing I can't stand though: the dialects of my native language Dutch and Frisian, which is a Dutch dialect imo. I do like Dutch itself, but the dialects all sounds so rude and farmish. And only old people and farmers speak dialects.

It is so amazing to read all posting and see so many different opinions. I would never say I dislike or hate a particular language... It is someone's native toungue and I personally would feel hurt if someone said they don't like the sound of my native Polish. I love the way Polish sounds when it is spoken properly. It is so rich in sounds, very musical. On the other hand I have never thougt I would say that I like German, but since I had a german lover who spoke the most beautiful love messages to my ears I now tell all of you who said that german is harsh that you just don't understand it's beauty. I will agree to one thing though... Every language may be spoken with anger or love and every language spoken with anger will sound harsh, mean and plain ugly. Summing it up: LOVE to listen Polish, German, English and Italian. All very sexy, all very musical. I am curious to hear what you all think. What do Germans think about these postings?

I love Portuguese - it is the sexiest (can I use this word here LOL )language I have heard. I liek the sound of my own language, that is Croatian/Bosnian/Serbian - they are very similar, we can understand eachother but the grammar is different as well as idioms. Spanish i also one of my favorites. I also like the sound of silence

All the time I would have answered: russian. That would be the language I hate most. But than........... while sitting in a train .. I heard a couple talking in a language it wasn't french - but it sounds well it wasn't swedish - but there was music in it it wasn't polish or czech - but it sounds a little like "east language" As I ask the two in which language they are talking I was so glad to sit. It was russian......really. So I came to the opinion that all languages spoken with love will sound like music to me. What do you think?
