Hola! Bonjour! Ciao! =)
The idea of making non-English oriented Polyglot meetings is soaring in the air. A lot of Spanish, French & Italian speakers come to the meetings from time to time but don't meet each other often so we haven't made stable Spanish/French/Italian groups of chatters yet.
Following the thoughts from the air,
let's declare three weeks of December like European languages oriented in that way:
week 2 - Spanish - meetings on 11 & 14 of December
week 3 - French - meetings on 18 & 21 of December
week 4 - Italian - meetings on 25 & 28 of December
Everybody interested in those languages are very welcome
to our gathering & highly encouraged to express their interest in learning and/or helping with studying respective tongues.
Native speakers, fluent speakers, incorrigible learners & complete beginners are welcome -)
Come over on & bring your friends,
any ideas on making those meetings more vivid are appreciated!
Don't hesitate to make the world around you more comprehensible!
Cheers!
Ale

And here's another edition of the Polyglot Meeting Report !!
This is for the meeting held on 6th November, 2008
Interesting discussions on Obama, Financial Crisis, India's moon foray, Sarah Palin and some alleged plots about enslaving squirrels and ripping out their hearts!! Gosh, some girls are really getting rough these days!
We aren't doing much on learning new languages though! But since it is an open format with free-wheeling discusison, we'll let languages beyond Russian and English make a comback on their own. But wouldn't it be nice, living up to the name of the meeting - Polyglot!

A bit late.... Five days late actually, with the report on the 16th october meeting lost to the historians! Donno how I can aspire to be an organiser of meetings, if I can't organise even myself!

Report for the Polyglot Sunday meeting, 26th October
Met at the Kopyeka No.1, Taganskaya... Which is so much cooler than the one on Nizh Krasnosel'skaya (and not just on account of the faulty main door letting in the freezing breeze that made Anna catch her cold back!)

I thought the Taganskaya Kopyeka was much better than our regular abode, but it is very far off from the metro and so has an entry barrier!

Anyway, enuf of da location report! Here's a list of the participants:

We also had Deric, Liuba, Maria and a few more people who dropped in during the first half and went to the Brazilian Film festival midway. Sorry, couldn't take down their names! I guess the total was about 24-25 ppl, which is a great turnout!

So the event was really good with Fabio learning some of the choicest Russian profanity, topped by Sam's semantics lecture on each word learnt by Fabio.... I hope it didn't scare the newbies, but I rather suspect that the girls who were making faces rather enjoyed it all secretly! (wink, wink)
Hello everyone.
Regarding photos which i took during meeting (23.10.08) , it seems that i can only upload one photo per time, and i have to resize them....So please check out the photos on vkontakte.ru/ here's the link:

i'm sorry if you don't have vkontakte :S
Dear Moscow Polyglots!
We've made a noticeable progress in development of our meetings.
One of the most significant figures - the increase in frequency of our encounters.
Thanks to every regular member of our gatherings, big thanks to CouchSurfing
people, who saturate the meetings with their spirit of good will and encouragement,
thanks to those who're trying to join us more often and just don't forget about us.
I think we're doing well & we should move on in such a positive way!
I
have an ancient idea to help the Polyglots in Saint Petersburg to start up regular meetings in the Northern Capital .
I've already started the preparations for the Polyglot meeting in SPb on 15th of November, 2008 .
If you're eager to take part in that activity - feel free to join !
Two things you have to think over:
First: you need train/plane/car/... ticket to get there and back.
Second: you need to think about a place to stay for the night from 15th to 16 of November,
in case you're not coming back to Moscow exactly that night.
For the second issue CS & HC communities might come in handy.
For the first one: as for now there is plenty of train tickets to SPb on 14th Nov. night
and enough tickets available from SPb for the 16th Nov. afternoon .
I highly advice to book tickets the nearest days...
Ready to hear your thoughs on
the phone No: +7-909-9999-765, Alexander
Don't forget we're meeting on Thursdays and on Sundays !
Be informed:
Thursday the venue is "Kopeyka" at Baumanskaya/Krasnosel'skaya.
Sunday we meet in "Kopeyka" at Taganskaya/Marksistskaya.
Come over and bring your friends!
See you there!
Alex

Kind regards,
Alex
As for report on the 10.10.2008 meeting,
this time I was lazy enough to scan our Participants Lists,
despite of the fact that our recent meeting was not so crowdy.
So have a look at the papers,
I'll just add some statistics about the languages.
Like...
We had about 13 Russian-speakers,
19 English-speakers,
5 French-speakers,
6 Spanish-speakers,
3 German,
1 Dutch,
1 Italian,
3 Chinese
2 Malay,
