Welcome to ancient Lviv!
Lviv Region (L'vivs'ka oblast') is situated in the weastern Ukraine. Lviv is the principal city of the Lviv Region, its political, industrial and cultural centre. Lviv occupies a splendid position among the green low hills of Precarpathia. Its eventful history is inseparable from the history of the entire Ukrainian people.
The weather in Ukraine follows a traditional 4-season pattern.
Lviv is beautiful in every time of the year. In spring it looks like s huge blossoming orchard. The same can said about summer and autumn, with its "Indian Summer" when leaves in the trees turn yellow, red, orange and brown =)
There are many cafes in Lviv. (Where you can taste Ukrainian traditional dishes "borsch","varenyky" =).There are always many tourists in Lviv.
There are many attraction places and interesting places to visit (museums,parcs, etc.) There are Carpathian Mountains in the western Ukraine. It's cool to ski and sledge there =). If you decided to go to Lviv you have to visit "Ploshcha Runok". Nearby you can see a house famous for its Italian courtyard. Please, go inside for a cup of coffee, listen to music and enjoy the renaissance feel of the open galleries and the beautiful arches!
History. As it is recorded in the old chronicles, the town was founded in the mid-thirteen century in 1256 by Danylo, Prince of Galicia and Volhynia. He named the town for his son Leo.
Lviv took its begeinnings from the Prince's Mount (now High Castle Hill) where in the middle of the 13th century Prince Danylo built his castle fortress. Soon near the castle a town began to grow...
Within the proclamation of Ukraine as an independent sovereign state Lviv started a new page in its history.
