I'm Miguel, a PhD in contemporary history and the organizer of this meetup group.

After exploring the origins of the labor movement in Barcelona in the LA BARCELONA OBRERA, REBELDE Y ANARQUISTA route, and delving into the tumultuous 1930s in the Barcelona of LA REPÚBLICA Y LA GUERRA CIVIL route, we now shift our focus to the forty years of Franco's dictatorship.

Join us on the LA BARCELONA ANTIFRANQUISTA route to discover how life was under Franco's rule in Barcelona. We will explore various fronts of anti-Franco opposition, from student movements to labor activism, the resurgence of Catalan identity, and unique forms of protest like the 'rock layetano' movement.

This route concludes our trilogy on Barcelona's social history, revealing iconic sites of Francoist repression and lesser-known tales of censorship and underground resistance.

We will also examine the support Francoism found within Catalan society, aiding its perpetuation.

In essence, a comprehensive overview of the Francoist era in your city.
