By now, you should have a basic understanding of Bashkir grammar, including personal pronouns, the verb "to be," and basic vocabulary. In this lesson, we will focus on regular verbs in the present tense.
Conjugation of Regular Verbs in the Present Tense
In Bashkir, regular verbs in the present tense are conjugated based on the subject pronoun. Unlike English, Bashkir does not require a separate form for each subject pronoun.
Here is the present tense conjugation for the regular verb "to love," which is "эшәү" in Bashkir:
Bashkir | Pronunciation | English |
---|---|---|
мин эшәүм | min e-shäw-m | I love |
син эшәүсең | sin e-shäw-señ | You love (singular) |
ул эшәү | ul e-shäw | He/She loves |
беҙ эшәүһәр | beð e-shäw-här | We love |
сиңге эшәүһәр | siñge e-shäw-här | You love (plural) |
улар эшәүләр | ular e-shäw-lär | They love |
As you can see, the conjugation of "эшәү" stays the same, and only the subject pronoun changes. This makes it much easier for learners to memorize verb conjugation in Bashkir.
