The Verb to Have The Armenian verb ունենալ - “to have” is irregular. It does not follow the declension rule presented in previous class.

Affirmative[edit | edit source]
In the affirmative ունենալ is declined in the following way:
- ես ունեմ… Yes unem I have
- մենք ունենք … Menk` unenk` We have
- դու ունես… Du unes You have
- դուք ունեք… Duk` unek` You (pl) have
- նա ունի … Na uni S/he has
- նրանք ունեն … Nrank` unen They have
Negative[edit | edit source]
The negative is formed by adding չ in front of the declined form of the verb.
- ես չունեմ … Yes chunem I do not have
- մենք չունենք … Menk` chunenk` We do not have դու
- չունես … Du chunes You do not have
- դուք չունեք… Duk` chunek` You (pl.) do not have
- նա չունի … Na chuni S/he does not have
- նրանք չունեն … Nrank` chunen They do not have
Examples[edit | edit source]
Here are two examples:
1) Ես ունեմ մեծ տուն։ I have a large house.
2) Ես չունեմ փոքր մեքենա։ I don’t have a small car.
Interrogative[edit | edit source]
The interrogative is formed simply by adding the question mark ՞ on the last vowel of a word. Here are some examples:
1) Ես ունե՞մ մեծ տուն։ Do I have a large house?
2) Ես չունե՞մ մեծ տուն։ Don’t I have a large house?
3) Դու ունե՞ս փոքր մեքենա։ Do you have a small car?
4) Դու չունե՞ս փոքր մեքենա։ Don’t you have a small car?
