How is formed the Past Obligatory in Armenian?[edit | edit source]
The past obligatory is formed by placing the word պետք է or պիտի “must” before a verb in the past subjunctive.

Here is the conjugation of the word նկարել-to paint.

Here are sentences that use the past obligatory.
1) Յուրաքանչյուրը պետք է իր գիրքը բերեր։ Each person should have brought her book.
2) Նրանք պետք է խորոված պատվիրեին։ They should have ordered barbecue.
The negative of past obligatory is formed with the help of չպետք է or չպիտի which is placed before the main verb in past subjunctive.

1) Ոչ մեկը չպետք է մոռանա իմ օգնությունը։ No one must forget my help.
2) Մենք չպետք է նստենք նրանց մոտ։ We must not sit next to them.
