Basic Feelings[edit | edit source]

Let's start with the basics! Below are some common feelings and emotions in South Azerbaijani:

South Azerbaijani Pronunciation English
حالت Template:IPA hâlat Condition/State

Here is a dialogue between two friends, Ali and Aylin:

  • Ali: خوشحالام! سنی سنی، تو خیلی خوبی؟ (Xoşhalam! Səni səni, tu xeyli xubisən? - "I'm happy! Hey hey, how are you doing?")
  • Aylin: یخوشحالدیگه! چل هینچ اولدوم؟ (İxoşhaldıqə! Çıl hinç ouldun? - "I am happy too! What have you been doing lately?")

Notice how Ali uses خوشحال (xoşhal - happy) to say he's feeling good, which Aylin echoes.
